WHAT THEY SAY:“One of the ageless, evergreen singing stars that we have as beautiful and talented as ever; she’s marvellous!” (Ronnie Scott’s)
“Among the multitude of good jazz singers in Britain today, there is not one who can surpass Elaine Delmar…” (Dave Gelly, Sunday Observer)
Elaine’s musical path has taken her in many directions. She has made numerous radio and television broadcasts and concerts singing with small groups, big bands and symphony orchestras around the world, starring with Michel Legrand, Stephane Grappelli, Andy Williams, Benny Carter and Herb Ellis amongst others. Equally at home in a concert hall, night club or theatre, Elaine thrives on communicating with her audience. Elaine was nominated for the Radio 2 ‘Artist of the Year’ in the BBC Jazz 2006 Awards.
A great deal of Elaine’s working year these days is spent touring the world, often working aboard some of the world’s top luxury cruise ships. One of the high points of Elaine’s working year is her annual engagement at Ronnie Scott’s in London. Working there once a year now for the past sixteen years. So we are delighted to welcome Elaine to Brecon Jazz.
On this set she is joined by a flawless team including pianist Barry Green, who always provides some real interaction with the vocals, “sometimes prodding, sometimes holding back, and often inserting deft little phrases that decorated the lyrics with taste and sensitivity.’ Alyn Shipton, The Times
Also,in the line up, the legendary Jim Mullen, probably one of the most talented guitarists of his (or any) generation, and the possessor of that most rare quality in a musician: a unique and instantly recognisable voice on his instrument.
Don’t miss out these are great events at Brecon Jazz in August. You don’t need to be a ‘jazz buff’ or musician – there is music for many tastes at Brecon Jazz 2018!
