LENORE RAPHAEL TRIO, Friday 7th August

LINEUP: Lenore Raphael (Piano US), Hilliard Greene (Bass US), Glen Manby (alto sax UK)

Lenore Raphael internationally renowned jazz pianist, Steinway artist, radio host and jazz teacher and and  one of the best pianists in the jazz mainstream idiom today. Lenore from New York City has performed with such luminaries as Lionel Hampton, Ken Peplowski, Illinois Jacquet and Clark Terry. A composer as well as performer, her tribute tune to Oscar Peterson following his death (“Blues for OP”) premièred at a memorial concert for Peterson at the International Association for Jazz Convention in Toronto, Ontario. Performing here with a complex lock down link up from various homes in Carolina, New York and Cardiff.

Hilliard (Hill) Greene is an  acclaimed solo contrabass composer and performer. Formally bassist and musical director for jazz vocalist Jimmy Scott, and bassist and Concert Master for Cecil Taylor.

Cardiff based and highly aclaimed jazz performer Glen Manby sites his main influences as Charlie Parker, Sonny Stitt, Cannonball Adderley, and  and Stanley Turrentine – joins in this three way online performance.
