FRIENDS OF THE FESTIVAL – DONATIONS

FRIENDS OF BRECON JAZZ & DONATIONS (BRECON JAZZ VIP / SUPPORTERS CLUB)

If you landed here to make a donation – your support is really appreciated – thank you so much!. Here are some notes on how this helps the Festival. The original ‘Friends of Brecon Jazz’ [FoBJ] was a UK-wide membership organisation that had been associated with the Brecon Jazz Festival since its earliest days.  Up to 50% of the membership fees and income were regularly donated to the Festival.

The FoBJ organisation has now been transferred, and its mission passed over to the current Festival organisers to manage and support the Festival financially, and to promote its continuation and development.  All your donations and subscriptions now go towards this aim, and to also provide help for specific events, emerging new jazz ensembles and support engagement with the Town’s commercial centre.

During the Festival FOBJ was able to run a centrally located ‘Clubhouse’, with food and refreshments. This served as a meeting place for Members and a place to receive programme information or just to relax. In addition, throughout the year, they kept Members up to date with information through newsletters, negotiated membership benefits such as priority booking and discounted Weekend ticket for early bookings and accommodation information.

We welcome expressions of interest from any of our loyal supporters out there who may be interested in developing a  new VIP or ‘Friends’ scheme for the Festival going forward.

"Yes, it’s had its ups and downs, every bit as dramatic as the Beacons which rise above it, but the Brecon Jazz Festival has learned some tough survival skills as a result".  Peter Bacon, UK Jazz News 2018

"Virtual BJF2020 - Considering the obstacles associated with the pandemic, it was the triumph of organisation and technical expertise over limitation – so much so that while one might have wanted the real thing, its substitute may well develop a life of its own".  Nigel Jarrett, Wales Arts Review 2020

"The classic Brecon weekend is 9-11 August but there are several other excellent events around the festival this year including family jazz and dance on the first weekend and a film and jazz focus on the last". Tim Dickeson, Jazzwise 2024
