From Bridgend, South Wales, pianist Rachel Starritt, who has been unsighted from birth, is one of the rising stars of the jazz scene in Wales and beyond. She received formal training in piano with Alison Bowring at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) from 2006, and is currently an MMus postgraduate student at RWCMD, where she continues to demonstrate extraordinary musicianship and piano improvisation skills. Rachel regularly attended the Chethams Piano Summer School and Original UK Jazz summer School respectively, where she studied with Nikki Iles and Douglas Finch and has also received lessons with the renowned Welsh pianist and composer Huw Warren.
. Rachel’s Trio is a lineup of talents, who have hugely impressed jazz audiences at club gigs over the last two years. Clem Saynor is currently studying Jazz Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama under tuition from renowned bass players Yuri Goloubev and Dudley Phillips, Alex Goodyear a recent graduate of RWCMD, Jazz Performance degree, Alex Goodyear is now a full time jazz drummer, arranger and session musician, based in Cardiff.
